Softball Recap: Upson-Lee Comes Up Short

Upson-Lee extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping them down to 1-3. They lost 16-8 to the Spalding Jaguars. The Knights were not able to make up for their loss to the Jaguars from their previous meeting back in September of 2024.

Brooklyn McDaniel made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Emma Blanchard, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

As for Spalding, the win keeps them at an undefeated 6-0. The result was nothing new for the Jaguars, who have now won five games by seven runs or more so far this season.

On Spalding's side, they got a massive performance out of Ra'Khiya Duffie, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Duffie is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Macie Robertson, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Upson-Lee will challenge Mary Persons at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs' pitching crew has only allowed 1.5 runs per game this season, so the Knights' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Spalding, they are taking a road trip to challenge Fayette County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed nine runs per game on average), something the Jaguars will no doubt try to take advantage of.
