Baseball Recap: Limestone Comes Up Short

Limestone dropped to 16-17 on Friday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They came up short against Springfield, falling 10-0. If the Rockets were looking for revenge after losing 3-2 to Springfield when the teams met back in May of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Springfield, the win snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 14-18 record. The game was the first time they have beaten Limestone on their field since May 20, 2022.

For Springfield's part, not much got past Karter Marks, who gave up just three hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Limestone off the board. Marks also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Springfield is 6-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 8-17 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Wade Snyder, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Springfield's success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is undefeated (and 10-18 when he doesn't). Connor Borah was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs.

Limestone and Springfield are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Rockets will face off against Washington at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Springfield, they will head out on the road to face off against Edwardsville at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
