After each having a week off, the Ola Mustangs and the Cambridge Bears will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on the 14th. Ola will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
On Friday, Ola earned a 14-3 win over McDonough. That's two games straight that the Mustangs have won by exactly 11 points.
Ola can attribute much of their success to Timothy Clark, who picked up 99 receiving yards and one TD. Clark was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield on a catch that went for 61 yards.
Ola's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. Michael Kearney refused to say out of the backfield, picking up two sacks all by himself. Ola got some further help from Aiden Hogg: he picked up a sack and made 15 total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Cambridge, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Blessed Trinity on Friday, sneaking past 31-28. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bears have posted since September 6, 2024.
Ola better keep an eye on Connor Langford. He was instrumental in Cambridge's win, throwing for 185 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while also rushing for 110 yards. Those 110 rushing yards gave Langford a new career-high. Craig Dandridge was in the mix too, providing Cambridge with two scores.
Cambridge was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 237 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Ola's record now sits at 8-2. As for Cambridge, their record is now an identical 8-2.
The upcoming contest will be a clash of competing strengths. Ola has deployed a run-first offense that has averaged 175.5 rushing yards a game. Meanwhile, Cambridge has preferred to attack from the air: they average 268 passing yards per game. So which strategy will prevail on the 14th? There's only one way to find out.
