Recap: Orangewood Academy Spartans vs. Santiago Sharks
The Orangewood Academy Spartans entered their tilt with the Santiago Sharks with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Orangewood Academy walked away with a 58-51 win over Santiago on Monday. This was payback for Orangewood Academy, who suffered a 58-53 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Orangewood Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Alissa Belen, who scored 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Vicky Om, who scored 13 points.
Orangewood Academy's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-5. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.3 points per game. As for Santiago, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-10.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Orangewood Academy's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Pacifica Christian/Orange County at 5:30 p.m. on January 18th. That game will pit two of the most dominant against one another: Caylie Villagrana and Belen. As for Santiago, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Roosevelt at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Roosevelt will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 134th, while Santiago is ranked 26th).
