Two dominant backs in Kaden Winkfield and Jayshon Gibson are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Aledo Bearcats are taking a road trip to challenge the Richland Royals at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Aledo will come into the game with an undefeated record on the line.
Aledo is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped last Friday as they easily beat Granbury 61-0. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Lincoln Tubbs looked great while leading his team to the win, throwing for 128 yards and one touchdown while completing 75% of his passes, and also punching in one TD on the ground. Those 128 passing yards gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nash Mcelree, who rushed for 16 yards and one score.
Aledo was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 201 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 168 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter and that's exactly how it played out for Richland on Friday. They blew past Granbury 63-40. Given the Royals' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 107th, while the Pirates are ranked 494th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.
Aledo better keep an eye on Brett Kates. He was instrumental in Richland's win, throwing for 269 yards and three touchdowns while completing 76.5% of his passes, and also rushing for 42 yards and one TD. Aaron Brooks was in the mix as well, providing the Royals with two scores.

Aledo's record now sits at 7-0. As for Richland, their record is now 6-2.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Aledo has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 229.3 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Richland struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 228.5 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Aledo beat Richland 49-42 in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bearcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
