Basketball Game Preview: Hayfork Timberjacks vs. Tulelake Honkers

The Hayfork Timberjacks will head out on the road to take on the Tulelake Honkers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Hayfork is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat Maxwell 62-21. With the Timberjacks ahead 31-8 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Hayfork found their leader in freshman Kaelynn Bayley, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten steals. Those 22 points set a new season-high mark for Bayley. The team also got some help courtesy of Lydia Yarbrough, who posted six points and nine steals.

Hayfork smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in seven consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Tulelake had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They breezed by Dunsmuir to the tune of 58-27 on Tuesday. That looming 58-27 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Honkers yet this season.

Hayfork is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 7-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.9 points per game. As for Tulelake, their victory bumped their record up to 6-8.

Hayfork strolled past Tulelake when the teams last played back in December of 2024 by a score of 47-29. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hayfork since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
