Basketball Game Preview: East Allegheny Wild Cats vs. Avonworth Antelopes

East Allegheny is 2-7 against Avonworth since February of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The East Allegheny Wild Cats will square off against the Avonworth Antelopes at 6:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

East Allegheny is headed into Thursday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their tenth straight game on Tuesday. They were beaten by Geibel Catholic 64-33. While losing is never fun, the Wild Cats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 678th, while the Gators are ranked 169th).

Meanwhile, Avonworth ended up a good deal behind Greensburg Central Catholic on Monday and lost 59-40.

East Allegheny's defeat dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Avonworth, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-6.

East Allegheny was dealt a bruising 43-1 defeat at the hands of Avonworth when the teams last played on January 14th. Can East Allegheny avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
