Softball Recap: Fort Collins Comes Up Short in High-Profile Contest with Eaglecrest

Fort Collins faced Eaglecrest in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Lambkins fell just short of the Raptors by a score of 7-6. If the Lambkins were looking for revenge after losing 5-2 to the Raptors when the teams met back in October of 2016, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Fort Collins' loss dropped their record down to 17-7-1. As for Eaglecrest, they have been performing well recently as they've won 14 of their last 17 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season.

Fort Collins didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, an 8-7 victory against Mountain Vista on the 17th. As for Eaglecrest, they will take on Valor Christian at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. The Raptors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 7.5 runs per game this season.
