Pierce proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by eight) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the O'Neill Eagles 3-1. The Bluejays have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Eagles, too.

Kaelyn Halsey spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits.

At the plate, Pierce's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Evelyn Skrdla, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double. Savannah Beutler also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Pierce's victory bumped their record up to 6-4. As for O'Neill, their loss dropped their record down to 7-6.

Coming up, Pierce will welcome Polk County at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Bluejays are facing the Slammers at the right time seeing as the Slammers are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for O'Neill, they will head out to take on Boone Central on Tuesday.
