Football Recap: Newton Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Newton lost against Goddard back in September of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Railroaders lost to the Lions at home by a 36-17 margin.

It was another big night for Erik Olivas, who rushed for 152 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 carries, and also picked up 102 receiving yards and a pair of scores for Goddard. Olivas got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 63 yards. Brock Sullivan was another key player, throwing for 195 yards and three TDs on only 17 passes.

Newton's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Goddard, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Newton is set to square off against their familiar foe Salina Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Goddard will face off against rival Andover Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
