Football Recap: Central Mountain Takes a Loss

Central Mountain scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They were outmatched by the Troy Trojans and fell 70-29. If the Wildcats were looking for revenge after losing 62-10 to the Trojans when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the loss, Central Mountain still got an impressive performance from Kyle Everett, who threw for 120 yards and two TDs, and also rushed for 54 yards.

Special teams also played a big role in the game for Central Mountain, adding 11 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Gavin Heverly, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Central Mountain's loss dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Troy, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 8-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Central Mountain will venture away from home to face off against Jersey Shore at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats will be up against the Bulldogs' rather soft defense (which has allowed 30.56 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Troy, they will head out on the road to square off against Canton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
