Irwin County came tearing into Wednesday's game with 18 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Fitzgerald Purple Hurricane as they made off with a 21-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Indians, who have now won 14 matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Lyla Moore was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in ten consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in August.

In other batting news, Sailor Mixon was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jenna Bridges, who went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, four runs, and one double.

Irwin County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .593. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Irwin County's victory bumped their record up to 21-2. As for Fitzgerald, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 21 of their last 22 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-27 record this season.
