Softball Recap: Pierce Starts Season with Win at Home

Pierce took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Thursday. They blew past the Ponca Indians 9-0. The Bluejays not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since August 22, 2024 (when they won 20-3).

Athena Bretschneider was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Maelee Hamilton, who went 1-for-2 with two runs.

Pierce always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .520. The last time their OBP was this high was back in September of 2024.

Pierce wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 9-2 defeat against Twin River on the 23rd. As for Ponca, they have also already played their next game, an 11-0 loss against Centura on the 23rd.
