Baseball Recap: Brookwood Beats Hillgrove for Their Ninth Straight Win

Brookwood had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13 runs) and they went ahead and made it nine on Tuesday. They blew past the Hillgrove Hawks 11-1. That's two games straight that the Broncos have won by exactly ten runs.

Max Rogozinski was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in February. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other pitching news, Dylan Larsen and Joe Soto dominated on the mound. Larsen pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit, while Soto pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Soto gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Boomer Rogozinski, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Jacob Chan also deserves some recognition as he scored his first runs of the season.

Brookwood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. They are a perfect 11-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Brookwood pushed their record up to 16-7 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Hillgrove, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-8.

Brookwood and Hillgrove should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings. Brookwood will face off against Norcross at 5:55 p.m. on Thursday up 220 places (70 vs. 290). Meanwhile, Hillgrove (ranked 63rd) will meet North Cobb (ranked 233rd) at 5:55 p.m. on Wednesday.
