Softball Recap: Richmond Hill Takes Down North Gwinnett in a Playoff Battle

It's playoff time, and Richmond Hill had no trouble coming through when it counted. They walked away with a 6-2 win over the North Gwinnett Bulldogs on Monday. Winning may never get old, but the Wildcats sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

A Williams spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on two hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Maggie Jenkins and Aubrey Ragins did most of the damage at the plate: Jenkins went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base, while Ragins went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those two runs gave Jenkins a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ainsley Washington, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Richmond Hill kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive games.

Richmond Hill's victory bumped their record up to 18-9. As for North Gwinnett, the defeat snapped their winning streak at eight games and leaves them with a 28-4 record.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Richmond Hill beat the Bulldogs by a score of 4-3 later that day.
