Baseball Recap: Lane Tech Snaps Eight-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Lane Tech dropped their record down to 24-10 on Thursday, which also ended the team's eight-game streak of wins at home. They fell just short of the Kenwood Broncos by a score of 10-9. The Champions were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Broncos apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Dodger Friedrich was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Teo Greco made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs. Henry Murray was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs.

As for Kenwood, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 16 of their last 17 contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 17-6-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games.

On Kenwood's side, they got a massive performance out of Jimmy Downs, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. That's the most doubles Downs has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Brandon Stinson, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with two runs and one RBI.

Coming up, Lane Tech will challenge Richards at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Kenwood, they will square off against Oak Forest at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Bengals' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Broncos' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
