Softball Recap: Mill Creek Snags Sixth Win in Last Eight Games

The Mill Creek Hawks made easy work of the Marist War Eagles on Wednesday and carried off an 8-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Hawks, who have now won ten matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Bethany Sottnick spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on eight hits.

At the plate, Mill Creek let Ronnie Wade and Blair McClain run wild. Wade went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while McClain went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most hits Wade has posted since back in August. Another player making a difference was Addison Ursetta, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

Mill Creek was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They are 8-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Mill Creek is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Marist, their loss dropped their record down to 12-8.

Coming up, Mill Creek will square off against Collins Hill at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.24 runs per game on average), something the Hawks will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Marist, they will challenge Druid Hills at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The War Eagles are facing the Red Devils at the right time seeing as the Red Devils are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
