Soccer Game Preview: San Ramon Valley vs. California

The San Ramon Valley Wolves will head out to square off against the California Grizzlies at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

San Ramon Valley's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They skirted past Amador Valley 1-0. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but Wolves were the better team in the second half.

Meanwhile, California hasn't lost a match since January 9th, a trend which continued in their latest game on Tuesday. Neither they nor Granada could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 1-1 draw. That draw made it three straight for the Grizzlies.

San Ramon Valley's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-1. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three contests. California's draw gives them a new season record of 4-4-4.

San Ramon Valley came out on top in a nail-biter against California in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, sneaking past 1-0. Will San Ramon Valley repeat their success, or does California have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
