Basketball Recap: Salesian College Preparatory Snags Ninth Win in Last 11 Games

With a playoff win on the line, Salesian College Preparatory rose to the challenge on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Colfax Falcons 53-51. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Pride have posted since January 23, 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Salesian College Preparatory to victory, but perhaps none more so than Janiya Sawyer, who posted 18 points and eight boards. Vanessa Parilla was another key player, putting up 11 points and five assists.

Despite the loss, Colfax still got an impressive performance from Juliette James, who shot 55% from the field on her way to 16 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaia Diederichs, who went 6-for-13 en route to 13 points and five boards.

Salesian College Preparatory is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.9 points over those games. Colfax's defeat ended a ten-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 27-7.

Coming up, Salesian College Preparatory will challenge Sierra Pacific at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Sierra Pacific will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something Salesian College Preparatory surely won't give up without a fight. Colfax does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
