Basketball Game Preview: Dos Palos Broncos vs. Mendota Aztecs

Dos Palos hasn't had much luck against Mendota recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Dos Palos Broncos are taking a road trip to take on the Mendota Aztecs at 6:30 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Dos Palos took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They strolled past Avenal with points to spare, taking the game 35-20.

Dos Palos' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Athena Correa, who posted 21 points. Those 21 points gave Correa a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayla Bland, who put up ten points.

Meanwhile, Mendota had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32.4 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Tuesday. They took their match with ease, bagging a 53-15 win over the Tigers. The Aztecs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten games by 23 points or more this season.

Mendota's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-5. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 39 points. As for Dos Palos, their win bumped their record up to 7-11.

Dos Palos was taken down by Mendota 67-22 when the teams last played on January 14th. Can Dos Palos avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
