Basketball Recap: El Capitan Now 14-1 over Last 15 Games

El Capitan had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They came out on top against the Grace Davis Spartans by a score of 68-58 on Tuesday. Given the Gauchos' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 143rd, while the Spartans are ranked 437th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

El Capitan's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Alexis Valenzuela, who posted 13 points and six steals. Valenzuela has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last four times she's played. Shantelle Magana was another key player, putting up 14 points and four steals.

El Capitan smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in four consecutive matches.

El Capitan has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-4 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 38.6 points. Grace Davis' defeat dropped their record down to 22-6.

El Capitan wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 54-44 loss against Whitney on the 20th. Grace Davis does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
