Preview: Sun Valley Vanguards vs. Bayard Rustin Golden Knights
Sun Valley is 0-10 against Bayard Rustin since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Sun Valley Vanguards will be playing at home against the Bayard Rustin Golden Knights at 6:45 p.m. Sun Valley will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 291st, while Bayard Rustin is ranked 92nd).
Last Saturday, Sun Valley lost to Academy Park at home by a decisive 47-32 margin. Sun Valley has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, Bayard Rustin was able to grind out a solid win over Mt. St. Joseph Academy on Sunday, taking the game 58-47. The win made it back-to-back wins for Bayard Rustin.
Riley Stackhouse continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 28 points along with six rebounds and three steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Sara Betchyk, who scored 18 points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
Sun Valley's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-6. As for Bayard Rustin, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season.
Sun Valley was taken down by Bayard Rustin 50-18 in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Stackhouse, who scored 23 points along with three steals.
