Preview: Montebello Oilers vs. Bell Gardens Lancers
Montebello is 1-9 against Bell Gardens since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Montebello Oilers will be playing at home against the Bell Gardens Lancers at 6:30 p.m. Montebello has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Montebello suffered their biggest loss since December 4, 2023 on Friday. They were the victim of a tough 52-31 loss at the hands of Schurr. Montebello was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-8.
Meanwhile, Bell Gardens beat Alhambra 63-52 on Friday.
Bell Gardens' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Karen Ramirez, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Ramirez hasn't dropped below 15points for four straight games. Deanna Moore was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.
Montebello has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season. As for Bell Gardens, they now have a winning record of 10-9.
Montebello was taken down by Bell Gardens 61-11 in their previous meeting on January 5th. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Ramirez, who scored 26 points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
