Basketball Recap: Castro Valley Takes a Loss

Castro Valley came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They had to suffer through a 72-26 loss at the hands of the Piedmont Highlanders. The Trojans haven't had much luck with the Highlanders recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

Despite the defeat, Castro Valley had strong showings from Naomi Chew, who posted nine points and three steals, and Victoria Feliciano, who scored nine points and three steals. Chew has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 14 times she's played.

Castro Valley's loss dropped their record down to 9-15. As for Piedmont, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 22-4.

Castro Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Piedmont, they will face off against Cardinal Newman at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cardinal Newman is on a 14-game streak of home wins, Piedmont a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
