Basketball Recap: Venture Academy Picks Up Sixth Straight Win on the Road

Venture Academy had won five straight road games and Kelyiana Neal did her part to make it six on Tuesday. The Venture Academy Mustangs enjoyed a cozy 38-24 victory over the Turlock Christian Eagles thanks in part to Neal, who posted 16 points in addition to eight steals and seven rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last 12 games she's played.

The team also got some help courtesy of Sarah Wegner, who had eight points along with 13 boards and four steals. She has become a key player for Venture Academy: the team is 13-5 when she posts at least eight rebounds, but 1-2 otherwise.

Turlock Christian's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Christiana Eivaz, who dropped a double-double with ten points and ten boards. Another player making a difference was Faith Hayes, who earned six points and ten rebounds.

Venture Academy is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a massive bump to their 14-7 record this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to assists: they averaged an imposing 8.63 assists in those games compared to only 8.63 in the others. As for Turlock Christian, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 10-14 record this season.

Coming up, Venture Academy will square off against Aspire Langston Hughes Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Turlock Christian, it'll be a Battle of the Birds when the Eagles challenge the Falcons at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
