Basketball Game Preview: Woodlake Tigers vs. Farmersville Aztecs

Woodlake is 0-10 against Farmersville since November of 2021 but things could change on Friday. The Woodlake Tigers will face off against the Farmersville Aztecs at 6:30 p.m.

Woodlake is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Strathmore on Wednesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Woodlake lost 54-30 to Strathmore. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1168th, while the Spartans are ranked 550th).

Meanwhile, after only 21 points in their last game, Farmersville made sure to put some points up on the board against Orange Cove on Wednesday. Farmersville simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Orange Cove 61-22. The Aztecs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 21 points or more this season.

Farmersville pushed their record up to 12-14 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 20.7 points per game. As for Woodlake, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-15.

Woodlake took a serious blow against Farmersville when the teams last played back in December of 2024, falling 44-14. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Farmersville's Janessa Garza, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 steals.
