Softball Recap: Denver North Beats the Academy for Their Sixth Straight Victory

While Denver North's victory against The Academy wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Vikings had just enough and edged out the Wildcats 8-7. The Vikings' win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

Veronica Loera-Tafoya was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched 3.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Loera-Tafoya was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run.

Loera-Tafoya wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Caidyn Kennedy, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those two hits gave Kennedy a new career-high. Elina Gutierrez was another, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Denver North kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in seven consecutive games dating back to last season.

Denver North's record is now 3-0. As for The Academy, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Denver North wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 13-0 victory against Aurora Central on the 19th. As for The Academy, they will face off against Niwot at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
