Baseball Recap: Landmark Christian Beats St. Francis for Their Fourth Straight Win

Landmark Christian had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt St. Francis on Thursday. The War Eagles put the hurt on the Knights with a sharp 14-4 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the War Eagles considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

Ethan Echevarria looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Landmark Christian got a massive performance out of Taylor Casson, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Casson has become a key player for the War Eagles: the team is 7-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-8 otherwise. Jackson Lee was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

The win (which was Landmark Christian's fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-9. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for St. Francis, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 12 of their last 13 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-18 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Landmark Christian will head out to square off against Pace Academy at 5:55 p.m. on Thursday. As for St. Francis, they will challenge Chattahoochee at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. The Knights are facing the Cougars at the right time seeing as the Cougars are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
