Baseball Recap: Lanier Takes a Loss

Lanier fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Collins Hill on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Collins Hill Eagles by a score of 6-5. The Longhorns' loss continues a trend for the team, making it six in a row dating back to last season.

Lanier got a good showing from Lawson Smithers, who didn't allow a single earned run and only two hits over four innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Lanier saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Vincenzo Prigge, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Jackson Godfrey was another, going a perfect1-for-1 with two RBI.

Lanier's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Collins Hill, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to a perfect 2-0.

Coming up, Lanier will face off against Peach County at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Collins Hill, they will head out to square off against Brookwood at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
