Softball Recap: Bixby Takes a Loss

Bixby extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 14-17. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the Durant Lions. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Spartans have suffered since September 3, 2024.

As for Durant, their victory bumped their record up to 10-25. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since September 13th.

For Durant's part, Emma Sherrer made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. Sherrer has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. She also scored a run, marking her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ryan Uber, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run. Those hits were her first of the season. Korbyn Robinson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Coming up, Bixby will be playing in front of their home fans against Tahlequah at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Spartans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 6.1 runs per game this season. Durant does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
