The Burroughs Bears have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matchups by 21 points or more this season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat Santa Monica 49-16 at home. Given Burroughs' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 186th, while Santa Monica is ranked 454th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Burroughs found their leader in underclassman Claire Hackney, who scored 12 points. Mia Paz was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Burroughs' victory bumped their record up to 13-2. As for Santa Monica, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-8.
