Basketball Game Preview: Sahuaro Cougars vs. Mica Mountain Thunderbolts

The Sahuaro Cougars will take on the Mica Mountain Thunderbolts at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Mica Mountain will be up against a hot Sahuaro squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. Sahuaro sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 53-50 win over Salpointe Catholic on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Cougars have posted since November 30, 2024.

Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Mica Mountain ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Ironwood Ridge, sneaking past 70-67. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Thunderbolts.

Sahuaro's win was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-2. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.9 points over those games. As for Mica Mountain, their victory bumped their record up to 14-10.

Sahuaro strolled past Mica Mountain in their previous matchup two weeks ago by a score of 72-55. Does Sahuaro have another victory up their sleeve, or will Mica Mountain turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
