Volleyball Recap: Saturday's Defeat Ends West Rusk's Winning Streak

After a string of six wins, West Rusk's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell just short of the Beckville Bearcats by a score of 2-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bearcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-0 last Friday.

West Rusk came incredibly close to winning: the sets they lost were decided by three points or less. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 16-25, 25-23.

Hannah Haffner paced West Rusk's offense, picking up ten kills. Haffner got some help from Kimora Pryor and her 23 assists. Finally, Kamyah Lacy kept West Rusk's defense grounded, leading the team with four blocks.

Among those leading the charge was Emily Grandgeorge, who had 11 digs.

West Rusk's defeat dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Beckville, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 13-3.

Coming up, West Rusk will face off against Garrison at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Beckville, they will square off against Kilgore at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
