Basketball Recap: Irvine Takes a Loss

Irvine played a tough contest on Wednesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against the Laguna Beach Breakers, falling 53-31. The Vaqueros were down 47-25 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Laguna Beach's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kate Cheng, who posted 16 points. Cheng's evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Fiona McCormick, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds.

Irvine's loss dropped their record down to 13-10. As for Laguna Beach, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-9 record this season.

Irvine didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 54-28 win against University on the 31st. Laguna Beach has also already played their next contest, a 54-37 victory against Northwood on the 31st.
