League recap: Rosemount tops Mounds View to extend winning streak

South Suburban recap November 5, 2013

Rosemount added to the longest winning streak in South Suburban this week by beating Mounds View, 42-7. The win marks ninth in a row for the the Irish.

Lakeville North and Cretin-Derham Hall played the most contested game in the league this week, with Lakeville North eventually emerging with a 14-12 victory.

Lakeville South's Brenon Larson-Gulsvig and Nick Toon have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Larson-Gulsvig has thrown for 970 yards this season, while Toon, a 6-foot-3 receiver, has 27 catches for 406 yards. Jamiah Newell from the Panthers leads the league in rushing with 1,015 yards.

A big matchup in South Suburban this week will be when Eastview takes on Rosemount. At the moment, the Lightning are in fifth, while Jeff Erdmann's team is in first.

The Irish led the league in scoring this week after putting up 42 points on the Mustangs.
