Basketball Recap: Ashlyn Kelley and Calee Bookhart Secure Win for Roseville

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Roseville ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They snuck past the River Valley Falcons with a 38-34 victory. This was payback for the Tigers, who suffered a 43-36 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Roseville was led to victory by Calee Bookhart and Ashlyn Kelley. Bookhart almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds, while Kelley posted 12 points and six steals. Bookhart is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 19 games she's played dating back to last season.

River Valley's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sukhman Kandola, who put up 11 points and six rebounds. That's the most rebounds Kandola has posted since back in December of 2023. Gurleen Nijjar was another key player, putting up five points.

Roseville's win bumped their record up to 6-9. As for River Valley, they moved to 8-11 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Roseville didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 58-22 victory against Del Campo on the 13th. As for River Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 48-26 win against Yuba City on the 13th.
