After flying high against Jefferson County on Tuesday, Academy for Classical Education came back down to earth. The Gryphons fell just short of the Lamar County Trojans by a score of 7-5 on Wednesday. The Gryphons' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Avery Stone made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayleigh Kell, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Academy for Classical Education's loss dropped their record down to 15-6. As for Lamar County, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-2.

Academy for Classical Education wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 10-4 defeat against Jeff Davis on the 19th. As for Lamar County, they have also already played their next match, a 17-0 victory against Towers on the 18th.
