Volleyball Recap: Briggsdale Falcons vs. Hi-Plains Patriots
If Briggsdale was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Peetz on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Falcons came up short against the Hi-Plains Patriots on Saturday, falling 3-0. The Falcons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Patriots apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.
Briggsdale was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Hi-Plains work for it, especially in the second set. The final score came out to 25-13, 27-25, 25-16.
Claire Brown paced Briggsdale's offense, picking up six kills. Brown got some help from Bailey Loyd and her 17 assists. Sloan Benson controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.
Briggsdale's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Hi-Plains, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Briggsdale will welcome Weldon Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. After both having extra time off, Hi-Plains and Genoa-Hugo/Karval will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
