Softball Recap: Washington County's Winning Streak Snapped at Six Games

Washington County dropped down to 8-4 on Wednesday, ending the team's six-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Montgomery County Eagles, falling 20-9. The Golden Hawks were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Eagles earlier this season, when they won 7-6.

Montgomery County's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-8. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Montgomery County's part, they got a massive performance out of Makailah Moore, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and two RBI. What's more, Moore posted two hits, the most she's had since back in August of 2024. Nora Cartwright was another key player, earning three RBI and two runs.

Coming up, Washington County will challenge Dodge County at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Montgomery County, they will face off against Wheeler County at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
