Softball Recap: Fillmore Central Takes a Loss

Fillmore Central extended their losing streak to nine on Monday, dropping them down to 3-18. They fell 12-7 to the Lincoln Northwest Falcons. The Panthers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Falcons earlier this season, when they won 11-8.

Hailey Ekeler made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Calli Gonzales, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

As for Lincoln Northwest, their win ended a ten-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-17. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Lincoln Northwest's side, Addy Walker was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed seven innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off ten hits. Walker has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Lincoln Northwest got a massive performance out of Jalyn Teichmeier, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Ashlyn Siegel was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fillmore Central will venture away from home to face off against Milford at 6:30 p.m. on the 30th. As for Lincoln Northwest, they will head out to take on Bennington at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
