Basketball Recap: Golden Valley Comes Up Short

Golden Valley played a tough match on Monday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by the Valencia Vikings 56-23. The Grizzlies were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 32-10.

Despite the defeat, Golden Valley had strong showings from Krysta Ezenwa, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds, and Jaia Bryant, who posted nine points. That was a full 60.9% of Golden Valley's points, marking the tenth time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points.

Leading Valencia to victory were Kamilla Basyrova and Cara McKell. Basyrova went 7 for 15 en route to 18 points and three steals, while McKell went 6 of 7 on her way to 14 points. Another player making a difference was Alexis Epie, who earned five points.

Golden Valley has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season. As for Valencia, they pushed their record up to 23-4 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.
