Basketball Recap: Valencia Comes Up Short

Valencia has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 46-45 heartbreaker at the hands of the Segerstrom Jaguars. The Tigers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Jaguars earlier this season, when they won 58-54.

Segerstrom's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was April Valenciano, who posted 12 points along with seven boards and five steals. Valenciano is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Stephanie Valenciano, who earned eight points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

Valencia's defeat dropped their record down to 18-7. As for Segerstrom, they pushed their record up to 19-6 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home.

Valencia will face off against Godinez Fundamental at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Segerstrom, they will challenge Buena Park at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
