Basketball Recap: Crean Lutheran Skates Past Sunny Hills with Ease

There's no place like home for Crean Lutheran, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They blew past the Sunny Hills Lancers, posting a 68-35 victory. Given the Saints' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 35th, while the Lancers are ranked 293rd), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Micaela Hanning, who posted 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Elise Randolph, who earned 14 points.

Several Lancers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ayah Maaytah, who had ten points. That's the most points Maaytah has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kayla Ma, who scored six points.

Crean Lutheran's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-3. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.3 points per game. As for Sunny Hills, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 14-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Crean Lutheran will square off against Canyon at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Crean Lutheran is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.1 points per game this season. As for Sunny Hills, they will challenge Esperanza at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Sunny Hills is facing Esperanza at the right time seeing as Esperanza is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
