Soccer Game Preview: Homestead vs. Palo Alto

The Homestead Mustangs will head out to take on the Palo Alto Vikings at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Homestead's last seven matchups have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Homestead's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They won by a goal and slipped past Los Altos 1-0. Saara Lahtela had the honor of scoring the game-winner for the Mustangs.

Meanwhile, Palo Alto hadn't done well against Mountain View recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Palo Alto beat Mountain View by a goal, winning 2-1.

The victory got Palo Alto back to even at 1-1-2. As for Homestead, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2-4.

Homestead beat Palo Alto by a goal in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, winning 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Homestead since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
