Preview: Mt. Diablo Red Devils vs. Acalanes Dons
The Mt. Diablo Red Devils will be playing at home against the Acalanes Dons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Mt. Diablo sitting on three straight victories and the Dons on ten.
Even though Mt. Diablo has not done well against the Broncos recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Mt. Diablo walked away with a 63-53 win over the Broncos. Mt. Diablo pushed the score to 50-30 by the end of the third, a deficit the Broncos cut but never quite recovered from.
The match pitted two dominant guards against one another in Natalie Dance and Amelia Schrag. Dance had a great game and scored 15 points. Meanwhile, Schrag was balling out in the loss, scoring 29 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks.
In what's become a running theme this season, Acalanes gave their fans yet another huge victory on Wednesday. They breezed by Northgate at home to the tune of 62-25. Given Acalanes' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 27th, while the Broncos are ranked 200th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Mt. Diablo is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 21-4 record this season. As for Acalanes, they pushed their record up to 21-4 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home.
