Softball Recap: Fossil Ridge Takes a Loss

Fossil Ridge extended their losing streak to five on Saturday, dropping them down to 3-9. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Blair Bears. That's two games in a row now that the SaberCats have lost by exactly three runs.

As for Blair, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.1 runs over those games.

For Blair's part, Laynie Brown was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Brown is on a roll when it comes to triples, as she's now hit at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Mia McClain also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Coming up, Fossil Ridge will face off against Rocky Mountain at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Blair, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 9-8 win against Norris on the 6th.
