Soccer Game Preview: Miramonte vs. Clayton Valley Charter

Miramonte and Clayton Valley Charter are an even 3-3-2 against one another since December of 2014, but likely not for long. The Miramonte Matadors are taking a road trip to take on the Clayton Valley Charter Ugly Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Miramonte is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3.3 goals per game this season.

Miramonte is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Carondelet just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell 3-1 to the Cougars.

Miramonte's goal came courtesy of Olivia Penney, who's now up to three this season.

Meanwhile, Clayton Valley Charter sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over Freedom on Saturday. Given the Ugly Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 174th, while the Falcons are ranked 537th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Clayton Valley Charter's win bumped their record up to 5-2-2. As for Miramonte, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-3.

Miramonte was able to grind out a solid victory over Clayton Valley Charter when the teams last played back in January of 2024, winning 2-0. Does Miramonte have another victory up their sleeve, or will Clayton Valley Charter turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
