Softball Recap: Fairview Knights vs. Horizon Hawks

Fairview extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 4-5. They lost 8-2 to the Horizon Hawks. Having soared to a lofty 17 runs in the game before, the Knights couldn't push the score so high this time.

Fairview saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brooklyn Dangott, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI.

As for Horizon, they now have a winning record of 5-4. With that victory, they brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.

On Horizon's side, Kaiya Barela made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. Barela has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in August of 2024.

In other batting news, Ava Howard was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Roxi Bausch, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fairview will face off against Boulder at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Horizon, they will be playing at home against Longmont at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Trojans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.5 runs per game on average), something the Hawks will no doubt try to take advantage of.
