Basketball Recap: Mapletown Takes a Loss

Mapletown was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They took a blow against the Clairton Bears, falling 74-24. The Maples were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-12.

Iyanna Wade was her usual excellent self, putting up 41 points for Clairton. That makes it 19 consecutive games in which Wade has scored at least a third of Clairton's points. The team also got some help courtesy of J Childs, who posted 11 points.

Mapletown's loss dropped their record down to 2-16. As for Clairton, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-4.

Mapletown has already played their next match, a 57-20 defeat against Bishop Canevin on the 6th. As for Clairton, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 72-48 win against Monessen on the 6th.
