Softball Game Preview: Douglas County Huskies vs. Regis Jesuit Raiders

The Douglas County Huskies will head out to challenge the Regis Jesuit Raiders at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Douglas County has given up an average of 11.1 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Douglas County is headed into Monday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight games on Thursday. They came up short against Heritage, falling 15-8. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Brynn Berchem was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Nicole Morrison, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Regis Jesuit couldn't beat Legend on Friday even though they stacked seven runs on them in the fourth inning. The Raiders fell just short of the Titans by a score of 15-13.

Caitlin Fairchild made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexis Colvin, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Douglas County's loss dropped their record down to 7-13. As for Regis Jesuit, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-11.

Douglas County skirted past Regis Jesuit 10-9 when the teams last played back in October of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Huskies since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
